Bridging the Valley – Havana Street Bridge, WSDOT
Our responsibilities included preparing preliminary layouts (length, width, span configuration, superstructure type), determining foundation and construction staging alternatives, and finalizing preliminary plans and cost estimates for the approved alternatives. CivilTech also performed final design of the substructure for Havana Street crossing. The structure is a four-span bridge on a mat foundation that accommodates future tracks. Our responsibilities included analyzing the structure for various loading conditions; designing footings, columns, abutments, curtain walls, diaphragms, and crossbeams; developing a barlist; preparing a construction cost estimate; and coordinating with utilities to avoid conflicts with existing sewer and water lines.
