I-5 / Everett HOV Design Build, WSDOT
CivilTech additionally provided temporary shoring designs to assist the contractor with construction of permanent facilities. CivilTech designed a shoring system to support construction of a southbound bridge at Broadway. The shoring system included a soldier pile wall with multiple-levels of tiebacks to support two-phased construction. For the first phase of construction, the wall was designed to provide lateral support of I-5 so the new bridge could be constructed adjacent to I-5. For the second phase of construction, traffic was moved onto the new bridge so that the old bridge could be demolished. Other shoring tasks included designs of soldier pile, ecology block, and tangent pile walls for Pacific Bridge, Broadway Flyover, Hewitt Avenue piers, Bridges 533/633, Bridge 5/640, Bridge 5/628, and multiple retaining walls. CivilTech also provided assistance with evaluating damaged tiebacks and designing lagging support, wedge plates, and pipe supports.
