Cushman Dam No. 2 Fish Collection/Sorting Facility, Tacoma Power
CivilTech provided structural engineering services for the temporary support of a new fish collection/sorting pool at the base of Cushman Dam. Our engineers designed a modular in-water pier platform to facilitate the construction of a 415,000pound concrete structure. The platform allowed the contractor to precast the pool at 2’ above the water surface. The platform was also designed with an overhead frame for picking the pool off its casting bed, for specific platform members to be removed, and for the pool to be lowered to its final position. Additional services included the design of a load testing structure to test load the crane anchor bolt tension capacity for 123,000 pounds.
