Component Supply Center HVAC Improvements, King County Metro Transit
King County Metro’s Component Supply Center (CSC) is a large industrial facility used to repair transit vehicles, rebuild bus components, perform body work repairs, paint coaches, and complete other operations associated with maintaining Metro’s bus fleet. CivilTech provided structural engineering services for HVAC improvements to the CSC. We conducted multiple site visits, reviewed as-built drawings, and performed analysis to determine the adequacy of the existing roof structure to support heavier rooftop units as part of the HVAC upgrades. In order to minimize impacts to the facility, we avoided adding columns to support the new units. Instead, the roof structure was strengthened by adding steel plates to existing wide flange beams to form box beams. CivilTech also provided construction support services which include site visits, reviewing submittals and responding to RFI’s.
